Microcement

Continuous, joint-free surfaces

Seamless floors, walls and furniture finishes that transform any space. Durable, versatile and available in a spectrum of colours and sheens.

What is microcement?

Microcement is a thin, cement-based coating applied by hand to create smooth, seamless surfaces across Ireland. At just 2–3mm thick, it can be laid directly over existing tiles, concrete, plasterboard and most stable substrates — making it one of the most versatile surface finishes available today. Composed of cement, water-based resins, mineral pigments and fine aggregates, microcement creates a continuous surface with no joints or grout lines. The result is a sleek, monolithic finish that makes any space feel larger and more cohesive.

Available in a broad spectrum of colours and sheens — from matte to satin to high gloss — microcement adapts effortlessly to both minimalist contemporary interiors and warmer, more traditional settings. Its slim application thickness also makes it an ideal choice for renovations throughout Dublin and Ireland, where it can transform a space without the disruption of a full strip-out.

Where can microcement be applied?

Microcement floors

The most popular application in Ireland. Microcement floors create a seamless, joint-free surface that flows continuously between rooms, making spaces feel open and connected. Ideal for hallways, kitchens, living areas and open-plan layouts.

Microcement bathrooms & wet rooms

When properly sealed, microcement is fully waterproof — ideal for bathrooms, shower enclosures and wet rooms. The absence of grout lines reduces mould risk and makes cleaning straightforward, a practical advantage in Ireland's climate.

Microcement kitchen worktops

A striking alternative to stone or quartz. Microcement worktops are heat-resistant, durable and available in a wide range of tones. They bring a contemporary, handcrafted character to any kitchen design.

Microcement walls

Applied to interior walls, microcement creates a smooth, tactile surface with subtle depth and variation. It works beautifully as a feature wall or applied throughout an entire room for a unified, contemporary look.

Why choose microcement?

Beyond its visual appeal, microcement is exceptionally practical. It is highly resistant to water, stains and abrasion, making it well suited to kitchens, bathrooms and high-traffic areas. Its non-porous, sealed surface is easy to clean and naturally discourages the growth of mould and bacteria.

Our microcement process

Every microcement project begins with a site visit to assess the existing substrate and discuss your design vision. We prime the surface and apply a fibreglass mesh for reinforcement, then build up multiple layers of microcement by hand — each carefully trowelled and sanded to achieve the desired texture and tone. Once the final coat has cured, we apply a specialist polyurethane sealer for lasting protection against water, stains and wear. A typical room takes 4–5 days including drying time between coats.

Based in Dublin, we work with homeowners, architects and interior designers on microcement projects across Ireland — from bathroom and kitchen renovations to full commercial fit-outs. We also specialise in liquid metal finishes and Venetian plaster.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Once properly sealed, microcement is highly water-resistant and suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms and kitchens. We apply a specialist sealer that protects against water, stains and everyday wear.

Absolutely. One of the biggest advantages of microcement is that it can be applied directly over tiles, concrete, plasterboard and most existing surfaces — meaning less disruption and no need to strip the room back to substrate.

Microcement is flexible by nature and resistant to cracking. When applied correctly over a sound substrate with the right primer and mesh reinforcement, cracking is extremely rare.

Day-to-day cleaning is straightforward — a damp mop or cloth is all you need. Avoid abrasive cleaners. We recommend resealing high-traffic areas every few years to keep the finish looking its best.
